Welcome The CIRAD Fruit and Horticulture Department's 2002 Professional Meeting was held on 10 and 11 October in Montpellier (France) on 'The quality of fresh and processed citrus fruits: new responses to the expectations of professionals' and is associated with the CLAM (Mediterranean Citrus Liaison Committee). The aim of this meeting between researchers, private partners and political officials was the presentation to professionals of the progress in R&D on the improvement of citrus quality in the broad sense-from the orchard to the fresh and processed products supplied to consumers. The future orientations of R&D emerged from the discussion between scientists and users of research. The 2002 Professional Meeting was an occasion for
scientists to host producers, trade operators, processors and officials
from the Mediterranean area and other production zones.
